Good Morning, New York Giants Fans!

One of the questions I continue to ask myself is — was Daniel Jones the right pick after all? Reverting back to my immediate reaction after Jones’ name was called on draft night, it might have been a little excessive. Cursing the football gods for sending us Dave Gettleman seems rather unnecessary now.

After a few weeks of development and progression, the Giants aren’t just looking at the next Dave Brown, they’re looking at their quarterback of the future. A player that will lead them to success and hopefully more Super Bowl appearances.

Learning behind Eli Manning and the infamous David Cutcliffe will prepare him for the obstacles he will face in the future. Head coach Pat Shurmur already believes he could step in and play week one of the regular season after seeing what he’s capable of on the practice field.

Unfortunately, that’s my biggest concern – while, yes, he has progressed, making uncontested throws in shorts with no real pressure can create a false sense of hope. The preseason will give us a better idea of what we should expect from Jones and if the hype is justified.
