Good Morning, New York Giants Fans!

General manager Dave Gettleman did a fantastic job piecing together a solid foundation on the offensive line in just two offseasons. Jerry Reese’s incompetencies are now a thing of the past and the roster has been turned over entirely, but the line isn’t yet proven.

Last season, Gettleman brought in left tackle Nate Solder on a record deal, and he struggled with Big Blue. A few nagging injuries hurt his performance, but it wasn’t the only reason his grades were down. Eli Manning is an entirely different quarterback than Tom Brady, Solder’s former passer. Manning takes longer dropbacks than Brady, and Solder was used to pushing incoming pass-rusher behind Brady in anticipation that he would move up in the pocket.

Solder’s habit ended up being a negative thing for Manning, but he worked diligently to break the muscle memory and adapt his game.

As per PFF, Solder ranked as the ninth-best left tackle in the league with a 74.1 overall grade. Compared to the rest of his career, he performed above average, making his first year with the Giants a success, however, they need him to take his game to another level in 2019 as this could be Manning’s final season.
