New York Giants: Eli Manning gushes over Brian Daboll and new ‘atmosphere’

After the New York Giants cut Joe Judge as their head coach, ownership went in the exact opposite direction in style and strategy. Hiring Brian Daboll presented the team with a wholesome figure that didn’t rely on consequences to create a learning environment.

Former quarterback Eli Manning gushed about the change in management and how the culture seems to be shifting.

“I think with coach [Brian] Daboll, and what they’re doing, and that staff and [general manager] Joe Schoen, having been around the facility some, the atmosphere has changed,” Manning told NFL Network. “So I’m excited for Daniel [Jones], I know he’s worked extremely hard and been through a lot of offenses, a lot of coaching changes, so hopefully this can be the right one.”

Manning also spoke about quarterback Daniel Jones and how consistency can breed success. Jones is preparing to enter his third offensive system in four years. That is not a recipe for success, but the Giants will help to unlock his true potential with a better system that manufactures production through their playmakers.

“By my fifth year, I had been in the same offense the whole time, I knew it, I could coach it up, new guys are coming in, I was speaking the same language as my offensive coordinator and as Coughlin, and kind of preaching the same stuff,” Manning said. “And with [Jones], it’s all new, and it’s learning, and he’s consistently trying to learn and learn and learn, and it just takes some time before it all sinks in.”

The odds are stacked against Daniel Jones:

Jones has already had his fifth-year option declined by the Giants, meaning he will need to have a fantastic 2022 season to justify a contract extension. Realistically, Jones must throw for over 4,000 yards and 25+ touchdowns for the Giants to really consider extending him and not resetting the rookie quarterback window in the 2023 NFL draft.

Unfortunately for Daniel, Daboll and Joe Shane have no allegiance to Dave Gettleman’s quarterback. That means the cards are stacked against him, but most harp on his work ethic and tangible traits as catalysts for success.
