The New York Giants are entering the 2024 season with a massive uncertainty at cornerback. Second-year cover man Deonte Banks is confidently in store for a breakout campaign. But opposite him is a new starter with much to prove and little experience to behold.
Cor’Dale Flott is expected to take over as the team’s secondary starting cornerback this season. If he wins the starting job his performance this season could make or break the defense.
The Giants are banking on Cor’Dale Flott to develop
Flott is entering a crucial third season in 2024. He is projected to be the team’s starting cornerback opposite Banks this year, despite having minimal experience on the boundary.
Throughout the first two seasons of his career, Flott has primarily played as a nickel cornerback. But this year, he’ll be primarily playing on the boundary as the team’s second starting outside corner.

Last season, Flott appeared in 14 games, making seven starts and totaling 36 combined tackles, five pass defenses, one forced fumble, and one interception. The youngster has flashed his potential throughout the past two seasons, but has been waiting for a greater opportunity.
This season, Flott will get that opportunity — but he will need to make the most of it. The Giants are banking on youth and potential within their defensive backfield to be the catalyst to success this season on defense. But whether or not the risk will pay off weighs heavily on the shoulders of Flott.
If Flott performs well as a starter this season, the Giants’ new-look defense could find great success. However, if he fails to play at a quality level and live up to expectations, the defense could ultimately find itself sinking this season.
