The left tackle job for the New York Jets has been a key talking point since roughly November. Between George Fant and Mekhi Becton, there have been many questions from Jets fans and the media.

The Jets have a big decision to make at left tackle:
Fant made this a discussion around last November. His level of play was consistently great in the year-long absence of Becton. Pair that with the potential Becton showed as a rookie in 2020 at left tackle. As a result, this topic has been a difficult one to come to a resolution on. Finally, it seems like we may start to get an idea of who will be the blindside blocker for Zach Wilson in a few weeks.
In his press conference this morning, Jets head coach Robert Saleh was asked by the media about the left tackle competition. Saleh essentially stated they want Becton in-house to discuss everything. So once he gets to the facility for mandatory minicamp in two weeks, they will be able to come to a decision with him and Fant. This approach is an ideal one to take. In the end, it is best to communicate the situation together before anything is known publicly.
Mandatory minicamp for the Jets is scheduled for three days, from Tuesday, June 14th to Thursday, June 16th. By then, we should get an initial idea of who the coaching staff might be leaning toward at left tackle?
From there, who will make the move to the right? Both players probably are better as left tackles. It will be fascinating to see if they prefer the proven consistency in Fant. Or if they look to go with the tremendous potential Becton has.
