Through two games the New York Giants have allowed 63 total points and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 45 points. In both points for and against the Bucs have better numbers, which could indicate more overall quality. Of course, the opponents play a part, but the Bucs facing off against the 49ers and Carolina Panthers shows that they haven’t been void of quality opposition.
The Giants will need both the offense and defense to elevate their games if they wish to record their first win of the season. Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones needs to utilize his legs and active the deep ball to tight end, Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard. Veteran Eli Manning failed to execute in that facet the first two weeks, electing to dump the ball off underneath frequently.
However, you could make the argument that Manning lacked pass catcher, and his inability to move quickly allowed the defense to zone cover and keep more players in the secondary. Jones’ mobility will force defenders to step up out of coverage and give the Giants more passing lanes. Also, the increase in RPOs will be a focal point for the unit, especially with the intimidation of Saquon Barkley playing a part.

Buccaneers: 27
Big Blue will get closer to securing their first victory, but the defense fails once again. Defensive coordinator James Bettcher operates an intricate system – one that requires time and adaptation, especially for youth players that aren’t familiar.
