It took just one hour for the Giants to lose newly signed offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor to injury. During a live drill, Eluemunor took an elbow from Dexter Lawrence to the midsection, which caused him to fall to the ground. He ended up walking off the field under his own power, waving off the cart that was intended to pick him up.

Giants’ Eluemunor Suffers Injury During Training Camp

Hopefully, the injury is just a bruise to the midsection and nothing more, since the Giants can’t afford to lose a key component on their offensive line so early. Eluemunor was listed as the starting right tackle going into the first day of training camp, with former 7th overall pick Evan Neal still working his way back from ankle surgery. If Eluemunor does not shake off the injury and return in a few days, Neal may not have a starting job to return to.

Eluemunor’s Impact and Potential Loss

The former 5th-round pick was excellent for the Las Vegas Raiders last season, playing over 905 snaps. He produced 13 straight games at one point without giving up a sack, allowing 28 pressures and six sacks in total. Five of those sacks came in weeks 3-4, so the majority of his campaign was extremely efficient, and the Giants desperately need that level of competency in the trenches.

Temporary Replacement

In the meantime, Josh Ezeudu will take over on the right side. A former third-round pick from 2022, Ezeudu is still trying to find his footing in the NFL.
