New York Giants fourth-year quarterback Daniel Jones is having, by most accounts, the best year of his career. The former first-round draft selection, in a brand new situation, with first-year head coach, Brian Daboll, has flourished.
This comes after what was a relatively rough start in the win department over his first three seasons. After a lack of stability with three coaches entering year four, Jones is finally seeing things materialize for the team.
One of his two former head coaches, Joe Judge, reportedly feels very strongly about the 25-year-old quarterback.
- Could Giants steal ‘quarterback guru’ from division rival as next head coach?
- Could the Giants strike a deal with the Jets to add a premier wide receiver talent?
- Giants set franchise record losing streak with loss against Falcons
Joe Judge lauds Giants QB Daniel Jones:
Peter Schrager of NFL Network’s Good Morning Football and Fox Sports NFL coverage was recently on the Pardon My Take podcast with Barstool Sports. On the episode, he spoke on how Judge handled his firing from the Giants earlier this year.
According to Schrager, Judge had some of the following things to say after his firing. Whenever they say, “Jones is terrible, or this or that, know that Daniel Jones is tough… comes prepared, and I would run through a brick wall for that guy.”
Instead of looking to tear down Dave Gettleman or the Mara family, Judge said, “Nah, whatever. Just that quarterback is tough and was put in a tough spot, and I just want everyone to know that.”
Certainly, some high praise from Jones’ former head coach. While the Judge era of Giants football may be an easy one to forget, he deserves respect for sticking up for the Giants signal-caller.
One thing Jones has always had a reputation for undeniably is his toughness. Jones plays hard and is one a team can rally around.
Pair Jones’ toughness with his athleticism and ability to throw the deep ball with a terrific coach, and the Giants are getting the desired results from their recent top draft pick.
