Today the New York Yankees meet up with the Houston Astros for a three-game set at Yankee Stadium. This is the first time the two teams that don’t like each other since it was revealed that the Houston Astros cheated the Yankees and others. But it’s more real for the New York Yankees than the other teams because the Houston Astros may have prevented the Yankees from going for a win in the World Series in 2017.

Unlike Poxatony Phil, the groundhog, whether the sun shines today or not it will make no difference in how the Houston Astros are greeted at the Stadium today. This will be the first time the two teams have seen each other since Major League baseball proved that the  Astros did steal signs illegally during the 2017 season, and maybe beyond. And particularly in the post-season that may have caused the New York Yankees to go to a World Series and win their first postseason since 2009. That cheating wasn’t the end of it; It may have cost Aaron Judge from the Rookie of the year award that was won by a hair by the Astro’s Jose Altuve.

The New York Yankees lost the East to the Boston Red Sox in 2018, but again in 2019 they lost the ALCS to the Astros, many industry officials and fans believe they cheated again in 2019 although it was not proven by MLB. Whatever the case it will not be a happy time for the Texas team tonight at the Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Considering the harsh treatment that may occur, it would not be a surprise if the umpires issued a warning to both teams, even before the start of today’s game.

Wednesday, May 5th 7:05 pm:

Jordan Montgomery 1-1 4.39 is scheduled to take the mound for the Yankees. On the mound for the Astros will be Luis Garcia 0-3 ERA 2.70. He has been a good pitching, bad luck pitcher this season. Jordan Montgomery is coming off a no-decision outing giving up two runs over 5 innings of work, a game the Yankees eventually lost to the Orioles. The game will be televised on the YES Network and ATT Sportsnet SW.

Thursday, May 6th 1:05 pm:

Thursday’s game is a matinee and will be started for the New York Yankees by ace Gerrit Cole. Cole has been totally dominant this season so far. In his last start, he struck out 12 over six innings of scoreless ball against the Tigers. The Astros will have Lance McCullers Jr. on the mound, he is coming off his best start of the season, holding the Tampa Bay Rays scoreless over seven innings of work.
