The New York Knicks newly acquired forward, Marcus Morris, finally spoke about his decision.

When free agency began, Morris was connected to the Los Angeles Clippers. He turned down a three-year, $41 million offer from the Clippers, which was his biggest offer of the off-season.

Morris would later fire his agent Rich Paul.

Morris then had a reached an agreement for two-years at $20 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

The New York Knicks came knocking shortly after, in an attempt to pry the productive player away from a proven team.  The Knicks had their eye on Morris from the beginning as well.

The Knicks offered Morris a one-year deal worth $15 million.  As we all know, he accepted then declined the Spurs offer to sign with NY.

The biggest take away from Morris commenting in his decision was “family.” Morris, who is from Philadelphia, will be able to now be closer to his family.

Say what you want about Morris and his attitude, but this shows you he is a good person. But, on the court, he can be intense, aggressive, and overall, a good teammate.

Morris will be veteran leadership and tenacity to a young Knicks squad looking to find true identity. Minutes might be tough to come by at times, considering all the power forwards the Knicks have. But, Morris brings a lot of value to the Knicks, even if it is for one year.

Expect to see him battle it out with second-year man Kevin Knox for starting minutes, but at this point, it seems as if he holds the advantage.
