The New York Jets have been heavily linked to Las Vegas Raiders superstar wide receiver DaVante Adams but any hope of the franchise bringing him on board may have died.
Adams had this to say to Shannon Sharpe on the latter’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast regarding rumors of him favoring a relocation to New York to play with his former teammate Aaron Rodgers and company (h/t Justin Tasch of the New York Post):
“I’m actively on the Raiders. What do I look like sitting here talking to other people about being on another team? And that’s how I still feel about it right now,” said Adams, who’s entering the third season of a five-year, $140 million contract. “I’m locked in with the Raiders and I really feel good about this team, and as far as I know they feel good about me.”
Jets: Davante Adams’ individual success has not matched with the Raiders’ losing ways
Adams put up his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season with 1,144 receiving yards, eight REC touchdowns, and a 58.9 percent catch percentage for the Raiders in 2023. Despite his individual success, Las Vegas underachieved with an 8-9 record on the previous campaign, failing to make the playoffs in the AFC.
Thus, Adams’ striking stance comes on the heels of multiple reports which suggested that the Jets’ chances of pulling off a deal for the 31-year-old were escalating in the woodwork. Several Jets players including running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Garrett Wilson recently came out and championed for the franchise to push the button on a trade for the three-time First-team All-Pro honoree.

Adams speaks on commitment to the Raiders but leaves a nugget of hope for the Jets
His forecasted addition to the Jets’ roster created much buzz due to the prospects of what he, Wilson, and Mike Williams could create as a potent 1-2-3 trio of pass-catchers. The two-time NFL receiving touchdowns leader would reunite with Rodgers and gift the four-time MVP QB with a familiar face that can do just about anything once he crosses the line of scrimmage.
The thought of such a pairing on the Jets had Adams also say this in the same breath:
“Well, I’ll answer it like this: If I’m gonna be reunited with anybody, it would be Aaron — or relocated and be anywhere, it’d be with Aaron,” the California native remarked.
It appears that the six-time Pro Bowler won’t speak against his current franchise and wants to win with the Raiders, but could also see himself benefitting from a move to the Jets. Should the Jets be able to acquire Adams, he could be the building block that fuels the Jets to a Super Bowl win in 2024.
