After leagues/teams around the country halted their seasons and suspended operations, the New York Giants will push forward through the NFL offseason, despite teams pulling their scouts off the road amid concern of the Corona Virus spreading.

Big Blue, though, have a big few months ahead of them, and as the NFL considers pushing back the start of free agency and the NFL Draft, more time only allows new head coach Joe Judge to further evaluate his players. This is the positive spin on the suspected decision for the league offices, while the downside is the prolonged wait until the exciting moments that accompany the new league year.

What are the New York Giants’ needs?

Beating the Washington Redskins at the end of the 2019 season made pass rusher an even more pressing need since they ultimately lost Chase Young in the process. With about $80 million in available cap space, GM Dave Gettleman will likely be active in free agency, as the Giants have been linked to Jadeveon Clowney.

Other positions of need are cornerback, linebacker, right tackle, and center. The high-profile players the Giants could be intrigued by remain Byron Jones, Jack Conklin, Cory Litton, and more. The NFL Draft will supply plenty of talent at the offensive tackle position, indicating that Gettleman might hold off on spending upwards of $19 million in free agency on a player like Conklin, who has struggled in pass protection with the Tennessee Titans.

While Judge will have time to evaluate his own players, the suspension of Pro Days will force him to spend more time watching basic film on Draft prospects. While this method is equally as effective, getting up-close and personal with the players will be difficult — especially when it comes to interviewing them and considering their personalities into the mix. Judge is looking for athletes that have a specific mentality toward the game and how they can contribute on the Giants in more than just a physcial way.
