The New York Giants hosted their first day of training camp on Wednesday morning, but what was supposed to be a positive day ended with concern over free agent acquisition Jermaine Eluemunor, who suffered a midsection injury that left him hobbling off the field.
Giants’ Training Camp Begins with Concerns Over Eluemunor’s Injury
Eluemunor could barely get off the field under his own power but managed to tough it out after taking a Dexter Lawrence elbow to his stomach. Fortunately, it seems that the former Las Vegas Raider should be good to go moving forward, indicating that the injury isn’t anything serious.
Shuffling the Offensive Line
The Giants signed Eluemunor to help support the right tackle position, a spot previously held by Evan Neal but is currently up for grabs. Neal is currently on the physically unable-to-perform list and has been working on the side with trainers as he nears a return.
However, he will have to earn his starting position back since Eluemunor had a solid 2023 season. Over 905 snaps, he gave up 28 pressures, spending the majority of his time at right tackle. He had a two-game stretch where he allowed five sacks and 11 pressures, so he was efficient for the majority of the season outside of that rough patch.

Considering Positional Changes for Neal
The Giants may consider cross-training Neal at guard, promoting a more versatile player who could earn a starting job inside rather than forcing him to continue competing at tackle, where he struggled over two seasons.
