The New York Yankees split a doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, barely securing a win in the first game and blowing another lead in the second game with Deivi Garcia starting on the mound.

While Garcia looked solid in his second MLB start, the Yankees‘ offense simply couldn’t give him the run support necessary to extract a win. It was an unfortunate result, but the Yankees just needed to survive Friday without any new injuries before they gained back one of their star players, Gleyber Torres.

Torres, who went down with quad and hamstring pulls after stumbling running to first base, has been working out in the Bronx to rehab.

Before his injury, Torres was hitting .231 with one homer and six RBIs. He started the season incredibly slow but was starting to get in rhythm before the injury occurred. The two-time All-Star will look to pick up where he left off on Saturday, hopefully.

When manager Aaron Boone was asked if Gleyber Torres would be activated this weekend?

“We’re going to talk about that, but there’s a good chance of that, yes,” Boone said before logging off the Zoom call.

The Yankees’ offense could desperately use some support, with the bottom half of the order struggling immensely to provide a cushion for the starting pitching. In the second game of the doubleheader, the Yankees only recorded four hits, which spurred any attempt at a comeback. Torres would replace Tyler Wade at shortstop, who is currently hitting .170 and has really only been useful on the base paths. His defense has been solid, but his lack of offensive spark has limited the Yankees tremendously.

New York Yankees projected starting lineup with Gleyber Torres back in action:

1. DJ LeMahieu, 2B

2. Gleyber Torres, SS

3. Aaron Hicks, CF

4. Luke Voit, DH

5. Clint Frazier, RF

6. Gary Sanchez, C

7. Mike Ford, 1B

8. Miguel Andujar, 3B

9. Brett Gardner, LF
