The New York Yankees lost shortstop Gleyber Torres in the third inning after stumbling to first base on an infield grounder.
In what actually ended up scoring a run for the Yankees, Torres came up gimpy immediately after the play. He managed to walk off the field on his own power but was immediately taken out of the game due to concern for something more severe.
Later on, the Yankees stated that Torres left with a tight left hamstring. This is a similar injury to watch Zack Britain suffered in Wednesday evening’s game.
Gleyber Torres left with a tight left hamstring… Not good news, hamstring injuries can be tough to deal with #NYY
Hoping for the best!

Torres is finally getting back into shape after starting the season slow, so this is a massive hit to his rhythm. He is currently hitting .237 with one homer and five RBIs on the year.
He ranked 17th in MVP voting in 2019 and was an All-Star. His transition to shortstop this year has not been smooth, as he currently has the most errors at the position in the league with five. His .941 fielding percentage is lower than his 2019 stats at the position, where he hosted a .961 fielding percentage.
Hopefully, the injury isn’t too bad and he can return in a couple of days, but with Britton being placed on the injured list after hurting his hamstring, early signs are concerning.
