The New York Yankees have gone weeks without positive injury news, losing some of their best players to the plague that is currently running through the organization. From the starting infield to the bullpen, the Yankees have been hit from all angles and are currently on a seven-game losing streak.

If there was any indication of struggles, losing both games in a doubleheader against the Mets on Friday certainly brought things to our attention. While manager Aaron Boone was able to climb to 103 wins last year with mostly reserve players, this year hasn’t been able to replicate that success.

However, the Yankees did learn of some positive news over the weekend, as DJ LeMahieu was reinstated and will be active for Saturday’s game.

LeMahieu has been rehabbing a sprained left thumb since injuring it against the Boston Red Sox about two weeks ago. At the time of his departure, LeMahieu was hitting .411 with two homers, eight RBIs, and 30 hits. Having struck out just seven times and walking five, DJ was a significant part of the batting order and gave the Yankees life at the top of the order. Since hitting the injured list, the Yankees have rotated the leadoff spot with Luke Voit, Aaron Hicks, and more.

In an attempt to snap a seven-game losing streak, gaining back LeMahieu is a huge bonus. The Yankees will walk out JA Happ as their starter on Saturday, which is already a tumultuous situation. Hopefully, DJ can give them the offense of spark necessary to end this cold streak.
