New York Yankees: Domingo German officially ruled out for the postseason

New York Yankees, Domingo German

Domingo German has been off the New York Yankees’ roster since last Thursday when he was placed on administrative leave due to domestic violence allegations. The MLB announced today that they are extending the leave through the World Series so they could complete an investigation which ends German’s season.

The police are not investigating the situation. There are very little details, to begin with. First reported by The New York Times, German had allegedly slapped his girlfriend in the public setting, where a Major League Baseball officials had seen this happen. It’s rumored that the public argument could have taken place following CC Sabathia’s LegaCCy Gala dinner, where most of the team attended with their wives/girlfriends.

“This is something that, baseball aside, this is a bigger issue, obviously,” said manager Aaron Boone. “When you hear the words ‘domestic violence,’ it’s one of those things that stops you in your tracks. I give Major League Baseball and the players’ association credit for doing their part in, several years ago, trying to be ahead of this and putting disciplinary action in place, hopefully being part of the solution to what is a problem in our society.”

The New York Yankees have only released one statement following the news:

“We fully support all measures being undertaken by the Commissioner’s Office pursuant to the Policy on Domestic Violence. We support this policy which reinforces that domestic violence has no place in our society and cannot be tolerated. We have followed the lead of Major League Baseball and will continue to provide our complete cooperation throughout the investigative process. We reserve any further comment until the investigation reaches its conclusion. All questions pertaining to this matter should be directed to the Office of the Commissioner.”
