The New York Yankees are entering the new season with high hopes and a lot of pressure. After adding Gerrit Cole to the rotation, the Yankees became the heavy favorites to win the 2020 World Series. With that, the already-pressured New York Yankees team have a lot on their shoulders this year. However, manager Aaron Boone isn’t concerned at all and expects another successful season.

“We don’t feel like anyone should be able to get in our way,” Boone said after watching a workout down in Tampa. “I don’t discount anyone heading into a year. Our job is to get ready to go win a championship. We’re such a long ways away. It’s such a long season.”

There are definitely some teams that poise a threat to the Yankees such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Minnesota Twins (with the Donaldson pickup), and yes, the Houston Astros who still have a very good lineup.

The New York Yankees’ lineup looks solid from top to bottom. The rotation was greatly improved from last season even though James Paxton will now miss 3-4 months of the season which will land him returning around June.

“We feel good about the surgery and look forward to being back soon,” said Boone of Paxton’s injury. “We’re trying to get individuals ready and we’re always playing the long game. But there’s no question. There’s probably a spot there to be had, at least some opportunities. But we want guys to get ready for the long haul, too. We’ll make a good decision. We have a lot of good options.”

Domingo German will be coming back after finishing his suspension, and obviously Gerrit Cole and Luis Severino will lead the way.
