The New York Mets drafted Brandon Nimmo 13th overall way back in 2011. Nimmo, who played in the majors over the last seven years in 608 games for the Mets, now faces an uncertain future.
There has been some rumored interest dating back to the summer on the Mets wanting to keep their center fielder.
He is coming off a career year in which he batted .274, hit 16 home runs, drove in 64 runs, and had a .800 OPS. Nimmo drew 71 walks which tied for 19th in baseball. He did all this while improving in the field.
Nimmo has spent 12 years with the organization and seems to love being a Met. He probably would like to stay with the team. However, Mets fans have come to know how his agent, Scott Boras operates, ultimately making things tricky.

Brandon Nimmo’s comments on New York Mets’ future following playoff exit:
When meeting with reporters after Sunday night’s disappointment, Nimmo had this to say about returning to the Mets.
“I’m definitely interested in coming back, but there’s a lot of things that are going to go into that this offseason… I’m definitely interested, there’s no question.” On how spending his entire career with the Mets impacts things, “There’s definitely some factor that will play into that and how I’ve been treated while I’ve been here and the chance they took on me in the draft. It’s all I’ve really known.”
On the Mets’ interest in re-signing Nimmo, Andy Martino of SNY reported there certainly is some.
“The Mets love Nimmo both as a player and as part of their culture. If the price is deemed reasonable, the Mets will lean toward bringing him back.”
Ideally, the Mets are able to retain their center fielder. Nimmo is a core Met both on the field and in the clubhouse. He turns 30 right around the start of next season. The interest seems to be there from both the Mets and Nimmo to keep their long partnership going. Hopefully, come free agency, the two can meet on a fair contract.
