The New York Mets are coming off a 4-0 win over the Miami Marlins last night. Now, the Mets are 63-37 on the year. They currently have a five-game winning streak. This win helps the Mets maintain their three-game lead on the Atlanta Braves in the NL East.
Carlos Carrasco’s fantastic outing
Carlos Carrasco recorded his 100th MLB victory last night. He is now 11-4 on the year. His 11 wins have him tied for third in baseball.
Last night, he pitched an incredible scoreless 7 2/3rds innings. Over nearly eight innings pitched, Carrasco threw just 93 pitches. He recorded seven strikeouts. Carrasco allowed just four hits and two walks. He did a great job for the Mets to extend their winning streak to five.
Seth Lugo came in to get the final four outs. He threw just 14 pitches and did not allow a hit or walk.

Big night from Francisco Lindor propels Mets’ lineup:
Francisco Lindor extended his hitting streak to six games last night. His batting average is now up to .257 on the year. Last night, Lindor had three hits and was responsible for half of the runs the Mets scored. Lindor hit a crucial home run for the Mets in the eighth inning. He now has 17 home runs and 69 RBIs (tied for seventh) in 2022. With two outs, Lindor continues to drive in runs for the Mets.
Hopefully, last night’s ball game is the one that gets things going for Jeff McNeil. He had two hits with a home run and a double.
The other four Mets hits on the night came from Brandon Nimmo, Eduardo Escobar, Tomas Nido, and J.D. Davis. Davis pinch-hit with a big home run in the eighth to extend the Mets’ lead to four. Nido also had a walk, getting on base twice in this one, and had a run scored. Daniel Vogelbach also reached base for the Mets with a walk in last night’s victory.
For the Mets to score four runs, hit three home runs, and win without a hit from Starling Marte or Pete Alonso is very encouraging.
