It only took 13 games for Garrett Wilson to make New York Jets history.
With his 78-yard performance yesterday, Wilson is the Jets franchise leader in receiving yards for a rookie. Wilson is now up to 868 yards, which surpassed the 844 Keyshawn Johnson had in 1996.
Going into yesterday’s game, there was talk of Wilson possibly breaking the record, and he did so quite comfortably. Not to mention the Jets still have four more games to play in 2022 for Wilson to distance himself even further.

New York Jets rookie WR Garrett Wilson is just getting started:
Knowing Wilson’s talented skill set, his competitiveness, and how well he has played so fast, one could very well assume that the 22-year-old is just getting started in the history of the Jets franchise.
The first-year wide receiver, now in 13 games, has 101 targets (7.8 per game), 63 catches (4.8 per game) with a 62.4% catch rate, 868 receiving yards (66.8 per game), is averaging 13.8 yards per catch, with four touchdowns, and a longest catch of 60 yards.
Wilson has taken off over the last three games since Mike White has taken over. Over this stretch, Wilson has 30 targets (10 per game), 19 catches (6.3 per game), 335 yards (111.7 per game), and two touchdowns.
His recent breakout has helped put him in a position to well-eclipse 1,000 yards in year one. Across the board, Wilson is currently on pace for 132 targets, 82 catches, 1,135 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. A special start for the rookie.
Week 14 was just another convincing game had by Wilson. Going up against an established team like the Buffalo Bills with an elite defense in one of the toughest, coldest places to play, Wilson stepped up all game long for the Jets passing attack. Wilson had his fair share of opportunities against one of the best cornerbacks in football for years, Tre’Davious White, and won those reps.
The Jets drafted Wilson with the 10th pick to be this exact, game-breaking type of wide receiver. With his youth giving him even more potential over the long haul, this might only be the first of many accolades in Jets history attained by Wilson.
