The big update all New York Jets fans were waiting on. Despite being on a four-game losing streak, the Jets got all the help they needed this weekend with regard to their playoff chances, and the much-anticipated news on one key injured player could not be better.

New York Jets QB Mike White will start this week:

Per Brian Costello of The New York Post, Mike White was cleared by doctors for contact today and will be the Jets starting quarterback this Sunday.

Due to a rib injury sustained in Week 14 at Buffalo, White had to miss the last two games for the Jets as he was not cleared for contact by doctors. Two games the Jets happened to lose.

This news is big for the Jets. Over the last two weeks, the struggles for second-year quarterback Zach Wilson continued. The Jets’ offense missed White greatly as they scored 20 total points over his two-game absence.

Even on this losing streak of four games, now at 7-8, the Jets, should they win out, have a strong possibility of making the playoffs. The return of White here is beyond key.

It starts this weekend in Seattle, going up against another struggling 7-8 Seahawks football team. If White can keep providing the Jets offense with the reliable, accurate distributing presence he was in his first three starts, it should be enough for this football team.

From there, the Jets head to Miami to wrap up the regular season for a divisional matchup with the Dolphins, another team on a four-game losing streak.

The opportunity is there for the taking for the Jets. White undoubtedly gives this team the best chance to win. There was uncertainty all along as to whether he would be cleared for contact or not. This news is certainly big and exciting for a Jets team with now rejuvenated life.
