With the injury to Zach Wilson in the first preseason game and potential rain during tonight’s game at MetLife Stadium, it was recently reported that the New York Jets will not have most of their veterans play.
This news certainly does not come as too much of a surprise. With the probable rain in the forecast, there was speculation on how much or if the Jets would have any key players on the field.
Virtually all New York Jets veterans will sit:
The initial report came from Connor Hughes of SNY. He stated that per his sources, nearly all of the Jets veterans will sit out tonight.
Some of those players specifically mentioned by Hughes that will not play tonight are Joe Flacco, Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, Carl Lawson along with many more.
- Should the Jets pursue Raiders All-Pro WR in a blockbuster trade?
- Jets’ offensive line must win this key matchup against the Vikings
- The Jets struck gold on mid-round rookie running back
While not reported on, players such as C.J. Mosley, Quinnen Williams, DJ Reed, George Fant, and John Franklin-Myers are likely among some of the other inactives.
The good thing is that the Jets starting unit on each side of the ball was able to get good work in during Friday and Saturday’s joint practices with the Atlanta Falcons.
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic shared that Chris Streveler will play a lot in this one. With few to potentially no starters set to play, it leads to incredible opportunities for unproven players on the roster bubble. This will likely be a game that consists of many final roster battles at various positions for the Jets.
