New York Jets activate George Fant from IR

Finally, after what has been a tough calendar year filled with injuries and position changes, New York Jets’ versatile offensive tackle George Fant has been activated from injured reserve.

New York Jets get back a healthy George Fant:

Fant started the first three games of this year but was clearly not playing 100%. It led to him going on injured reserve following Week 3. After eight games missed, the Jets will finally get Fant back. Huge for the depth of this offensive line.

With Max Mitchell returning a week ago, the Jets now have three healthy offensive tackles, along with Duane Brown, in a year where it has been hard to get any sort of consistency at the position.

Now, the big question becomes whether or not it will be Fant or Mitchell starting at right tackle. Luckily, from there, both have the versatility to fill the swing role as the third offensive tackle.

Knowing Fant has been eligible to return from injured reserve for roughly a month, it seems as if the Jets really wanted to take their time and make sure Fant was returning at full strength.

It is very exciting to add a player of Fant’s caliber into the mix for this 7-4 Jets football team down the stretch.

In other news, another offensive tackle, Cedric Ogbuehi, who has done a stellar job in place of Mitchell and Fant, just winded up on IR himself.

Lastly, second-year linebacker Hamsah Nasirildeen has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for tomorrow’s big game.
