New York Giants football is just around the corner. Our eyes were treated to the first preseason game of the year last week, every team plays a game this week, and the regular season is only a month away. The New York Giants will open up this week against their stadium neighbors, the Jets. The Giants have had an extremely eventful training camp thus far. With plenty of new faces, players being suspended for trying to have a child, and so much more, one player has held their ground extremely well. The sixth overall pick in this past April’s draft, QB Daniel Jones. Jones, who has been criticized since the moment he took the stage in Nashville a few months ago, has been outstanding in all facets of the game. One thing stands out more than the rest.

The Most Impressive Thing about Daniel Jones so Far:

The most important thing in football is being able to perform at a high level. You have to be the best at what you do to keep your job week after week. There are a few other parts of the game that some players struggle with though, especially rookies. It is the off the field aspect of the game that earns you respect from your teammates and coaching staff. While Jones has excelled on the field since being drafted, his excellent work ethic, pleasant demeanor, and attitude have made him already look the part of being a QB in New York.

Jones has held his ground extremely well every day since the doubters immediately called him a bust back in April. He blocked out the noise of the media and has worked hard every single day. His confidence has stayed high and his strong play has followed. Just last week, for example, Jones was intercepted by rookie DB Corey Ballentine in the end zone. His first in all of training camp. When asked about the interception, the former Duke signal-caller said, “I certainly wasn’t happy about it. It’s going to happen… but something to learn.”

He said exactly what you should. When you are a rookie your goal should be to get better each day and keep your head in a place where the media can’t reach it. Assuming that Jones is able to continue to grow as a player on the field, he won’t have to worry about the mental part of the game like some others have too. He is everything the Giants could have wanted; and more.
