Good Morning, New York Giants Fans!

When New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley fell to the ground in agonizing pain, the entire Fanbase and sideline gasped with concern.

Losing the most prolific talent on the offensive side of the ball was undoubtedly going to hurt, but rookie passer Daniel Jones still managed to average 28 points per game in his first two starts in the NFL.

Barkley’s absence didn’t seem to be as significant as previously thought, but facing off against an awful Washington Redskins defense and an average Buccaneers, one doesn’t tell the full tale. The Giants now have to face off against a top Minnesota Vikings defense and another intimidating group in the New England Patriots. Gaining back Barkley would provide a massive boost against more difficult opponents, and Jones could use the support.

The timetable for his return ultimately comes down to how comfortable head coach Pat Shurmur is with plugging his star player back into the lineup only a few days after a high ankle sprain. The original recovery program was set to last between 6 to 8 weeks, with the expectation being that Barkley would return after the team’s week 11 BYE.

Just 11 days later, Barkley was already making full cuts and running full speed on the injured ankle. Tight end Evan Engram went as far as to say Barkley’s body was made in a lab.

Several years ago, while with Penn State, Barkley suffered a similar injury and returned in just two weeks. It seems as if his superhuman body has super healing abilities as well. If he can return against the Patriots on Thursday night football next week, the Giants could be in the right place to compete. Jones will need all of the support he can get against Bill Belichick and a stout defensive unit.

We can expect to see Saquon come back in a week, just 17 days after suffering a severe injury. To put some context on it, I experienced a similar injury over a month ago and am still not able to run. Yes, I understand my athleticism doesn’t even mimic a paraplegic Saquon Barkley, but you get the point.
