New York Giants‘ head coach Joe Judge took to the podium on Tuesday afternoon to express is feels about the team moving forward and where they currently stand in the evaluation process. Note that he didn’t indulge much in the questions, leaving vague answers behind for us to analyze.

Here are the best quotes from the media conference:

“The only priority is to bring in good football players. … We’re not recreating any other program we’ve been a part of.”

“Everybody is going to have the same opportunity on a daily basis — to compete. … The past is irrelevant.”

What Judge is looking for in his players:

“Smart, tough, fundamentally sound and unselfish.”

As for the 4th overall pick, Judge said they would evaluate every scenario, and a potential trade-back option is in the mix. They will do what’s best for the Giants at the end of the day.

One interesting tidbit was when Judge mentioned he wouldn’t sign veteran players to “coach” younger players. He stated that it was their job as coaches to do that, and every player is responsible for performing at a high-level and not indulging in the youngsters to help them grow.

That’s a page out of the Pat Shurmur book of knowledge he will not be using during his tenure in New York.
