New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has the work ethic and everything in between to be great:

When the New York Giants initially drafted Daniel Jones with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, the response was negative. People were unsure of a quarterback coming out of Duke, having played against lesser talent and the bad memories of Dave Brown still festering in the back of their minds. However, Jones is far different in every way, and he showed that his rookie season with his anticipation and leadership qualities. Nonetheless, there were some bad moments, and week five against the Minnesota Vikings was one of them.

Jones finished the game with 182 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He posted a 65.9 quarterback rating, which was the third-lowest of his career, and he failed to make an impact against one of the league’s better defenses. It was a fantastic test for the young quarterback, and while he was battered and bruised, he learned a thing or two moving forward.

Former Giants wide receiver Bennie Fowler hosted Daniel Jones on his podcast, asking him a personal question following the tough game against the Minnesota Vikings last year.

Q: After the Minnesota game you had missed some throws, some throw that you wanted to get back, and you hit me up, you came and picked me up, and you wanted to go through those plays that you had messed up. Where did that come from?

A: I think, just being very focused on it, it’s about how important it is to you, and football is certainly very important to me. I wanted to feel like I had made progress toward the things I had messed up on, that I didn’t do well, and I had an opportunity to correct them before I went to sleep that day.”

Jones embodies everything you want in a leader — He’s calm in high-pressure situations, he cares about his teammates, and most importantly, he loves the game of football. That intangible trait will allow him to proceed in a positive way, as his football career isn’t revolving around money, but rather how great he can be following in the footsteps of Eli Manning. While he did struggle a bit in his rookie campaign, he showed us that he can be the future and that we should instill our faith in him as the Giants’ franchise quarterback.
