The New York Giants made a big move this offseason when they drafted their next franchise quarterback. With the 6th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected Daniel Jones, quarterback, Duke University.

It was a controversial draft selection, but since then Daniel has been on a mission to prove everyone wrong. And so far he has. The rookie was thrust into the starting lineup in week three after the Giants started the season at 0-2. Daniel stepped into the starting lineup and won two straight games to give the Giants their first even .500 record since 2016.

Daniel’s Warm Welcome

Daniel Jones is now a Duke football legend. Jones is the first Duke football player drafted to the NFL since 2015. Even more impressively, Daniel Jones is the first Duke football player drafted with a top-ten pick since 1987. Jones’s draft night accomplishment was celebrated amongst him and his former teammates on Saturday.

Daniel Jones took a trip back to his alma matter in North Carolina this weekend and was greeted with smiles and hugs. Most of the Duke football team has probably not seen Daniel since he has been drafted by the Giants, so they were excited to finally celebrate with the latest Duke draftee.

But they were not only celebrating Daniel Jones’s success on Saturday. Daniel Jones was also celebrating with the Duke football team for their week seven victory. Duke beat Georgia Tech on Saturday 41-23. This was Duke’s Homecoming/Former Player Day, explaining why Daniel Jones was in attendance. A video of Daniel and Duke’s locker room celebration can be seen below:

All smiles from Daniel Jones and the Duke football team. Daniel Jones has had an incredible 2019, and Giants fans can only hope he continues to have good years on and off the field as he will now be the face of the New York Giants for years to come.
