The New York Giants are expected to activate their third-year guard, Shane Lemieux, from injured reserve before four o’clock today.
Lemieux is reportedly in-line to start for the Giants at left guard with the recent neck injury for rookie Joshua Ezeudu, who is listed as questionable for tomorrow.
After starting nine games as a rookie, the last year-and-a-half for Lemieux has been long. He played the first game in 2021 before a knee injury needed surgery. In August, he had a toe injury that landed him on injured reserve.
On how tough things have been, Lemieux had this to say.
“It’s been a hard couple years, I’m a ballplayer. I love football. Being on the field is the best feeling in the world. When you get taken away from the game, you realize how important it is to you. I’m ready to get back out there, for sure.”
With the recent injury to Ezeudu, who has started the last two games for the Giants, they could not be getting Lemieux back at a better point in time.
The Giants have had some instability at the left guard position. Ben Bredeson, the Week 1 starter, recently landed on IR himself.
It will be exciting for Lemieux to finally be on the field. He is still only 25 years old and, with his ability, is capable of giving the Giants some help up inside upfront.
