The New York Giants revamped their offense with a new crop of playmakers this offseason, but one returning player could be in line to make the biggest impact of all. Third-year wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson was scorching hot at practice during the Giants’ OTAs and minicamp. He seemed primed for a massive breakout campaign this season.

In 2023, Robinson returned to the field after suffering a torn ACL midway through his rookie 2022 season. Upon his re-entry into the lineup, Robinson quickly made an impact and finished the campaign with 60 receptions for 525 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Despite taking a massive step forward, it still felt like Robinson was just scratching the surface of his potential. Entering year three, the Kentucky product looks better than ever, consistently standing out as a top performer at the Giants’ spring practices. He put up a number of touchdowns during team drills, including a catch-and-run off a slant route that he took the house:

Robinson told the media that he is feeling faster than ever this offseason and that the player-tracking equipment backed that up:

“I would say in this offseason I hit some [GPS] numbers that I hadn’t hit ever, so it was pretty nice to see that,” Robinson told reporters (via Giants.com). “Hopefully being able to hit those numbers fully in pads and just show that explosiveness out there on the field.”

As the Giants prepare for an offensive explosion this season, Robinson could wind up playing an expanded role. The team’s addition of rookie wideout Malik Nabers should open up the offense for Robinson.

Nabers is an elite deep threat who will be joining another killer on the deep ball in second-year wide receiver Jalin Hyatt. With those two possessing explosive prowess, Robinson’s keen ability to make plays underneath should be highlighted in the offense this season.

With Nabers and Hyatt lining up on the outside, most of the opposing defenses’ attention will be focused on those two deep downfield and against the boundary. This should leave the intermediate middle of the field more open for Robinson to get open, get touches, and make plays.

Quarterback Daniel Jones has lacked a reliable underneath receiving threat out of the slot over the last few seasons. Robinson will fill that role in 2024 and give this Giants offense a sense of dependability in the passing game that it has lacked. With more targets expected to come his way this season, Robinson could be the Giants’ biggest breakout candidate.
