The New York Giants are aiming to rebound after a disappointing 6-11 season. A struggling offensive team, a new addition to the wide receiver corps could prove valuable for this upcoming season.
Veteran Allen Robinson could have an impact on the Giants’ offense next season
Earlier this offseason, WR Allen Robinson signed a one-year, $1.4 million deal with Big Blue. The 30-year-old is nearing the end of his NFL career, but nonetheless will still provide depth and veteran leadership to the Giants’ offense.
Robinson spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, appearing in all 17 games, and accumulating 34 receptions for 280 yards. Robinson is most known for his days with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he made the Pro Bowl in 2015 with 80 receptions, 1400 receiving yards, and a league-leading 14 touchdowns.
Robinson has been experiencing a career decline since 2020
The last few seasons have presented a struggle for Robinson. Splitting time between the Steelers, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Chicago Bears, Robinson has been mostly a non-factor. Since a solid 2020 season with the Chicago Bears that saw Robinson reach 1,250 receiving yards, and snag six touchdowns, he has managed just four touchdowns combined in the three seasons since, with his highest receiving yard mark for a full season being 410 yards in 2021. As a result, Robinson has seen his playing time gradually decrease in recent years.

Robinson’s veteran presence could be beneficial to the Giants’ young receivers
Despite entering a career decline, Robinson can still provide value to New York. Over his career, Robinson has amassed 7,028 receiving yards and has pulled in 43 touchdowns, giving the Giants a formidable depth option from the wide receiver position. Additionally, Robinson can be a valuable mentor to the Giants’ wealth of young wide receivers such as Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Jalin Hyatt.
New York enters 2024 looking to make a statement after finishing 31st in the NFL in both passing yards per game, and total passing yards last season. Perhaps Robinson can provide the Giants a spark if he still has some juice left in the tank, or can at minimum provide valuable experience and wisdom to a young Giants’ offense.
