With the New York Giants recently parting with linebacker Tae Crowder, reps are there to be had for someone on the defense.

One player along the Giants’ back seven who could take some more snaps is Landon Collins.

Collins rejoined the team over two months ago. He was signed to the practice squad and played two games shortly after in October. Following that, though, Collins went without playing for a month and a half.

This last week in Washington, however, Collins saw the field once again, recording his highest snap total for a game since his return to the Giants.

On Sunday night, Collins played 27 snaps for the Giants’ defense (57 total in three games played). Those 27 nearly accounted for half of the Giants’ snaps defensively (43%) from Week 15. Without Crowder now, that playing time can possibly even increase for Collins.

Landon Collins is ready to give the Giants more:

Collins recently discussed some of his thoughts on his role up until this point and how he feels about this chance.

“It was frustrating, knowing I can help… Just glad I got the opportunity, I would have liked it to be earlier.”

He sure seems more than ready to run with some more reps coming his way.

Collins has attained some incredible success with the Giants in the past. Their current 26th-ranked defense could use some help looking to make the playoffs.

Against the run, the Giants are the 30th-ranked defense in football, allowing 150.4 yards per game. Well-known for his physicality, Collins could give the Giants some help in the box playing the run.

Collins is an established eighth-year veteran who has expressed his excitement to be back with the Giants and now seems prepared to contribute. At a position the Giants have dealt with injury after injury all year, Collins’ rep share should only build over the final three weeks of the regular season.
