The New York Giants have had some unfortunate injuries occur. They may not be more banged up at any position than linebacker.
The clear-cut top player of the group, Blake Martinez, is recovering from a torn ACL. Alongside him, the starter is unknown.
One player who was helping himself to possibly take on that role was rookie Darrian Beavers. That is up until the injury bug recently hit him. Beavers was having a good camp as a sixth-round pick. His torn ACL leads to yet another opportunity for a linebacker to step up and take on a hefty role.

Could Micah McFadden enjoy playing time with the New York Giants?
Joe Schoen came away with two linebackers in his first draft. Before the selection of Beavers, the Giants selected Micah McFadden early on in the fifth round. The first-year linebacker now has a chance to contribute.
The players McFadden is competing for snaps with are Tae Crowder, Carter Coughlin, and Cam Brown, three third-year linebackers.
McFadden’s skill set:
McFadden carries a solid frame to hold up in the middle of the defense. He is 6-foot-1 and roughly 235 pounds. Athletically, McFadden proved himself very well in the draft process. Highlighted by his blazing speed and quick agility, McFadden recorded a 9.46 Relative Athletic Score.
On top of his athletic traits, McFadden plays a physical, tough brand of football. McFadden can finish tackles in the box or the backfield. He has the ability to contribute as a run defender and even offers versatility as a blitzer (12.5 sacks in his final two years of college).
McFadden is an instinctive football player with the ability to read and react. It bodes well for him with his aggressive style of play.
Intangibly, McFadden is well-respected for his leadership. He was a three-year starter at Indiana and a two-time captain. McFadden provides the Giants with the ability to help on special teams.
He joins the Giants with quality experience under his belt. McFadden played 42 games of college football. He is a 22-year-old rookie with the physical mindset required to step up and help the Giants in year one.
