The Yankees may have trotted out a confusing batting order against the Mets on Tuesday night, but they did receive some encouraging news from Aaron Boone.
Yankees’ Prospect Dominguez Poised for Return
Boone stated that star outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez took live batting practice in Tampa and is traveling to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday with the hope of resuming live action “within a week.”
Dominguez last appeared on June 15 before suffering an oblique injury that set him back considerably. The 21-year-old switch hitter has had a tremendous minor league campaign, dominating with Scranton. Over 37 at-bats, he hit .389/.405/.639. That included two homers, three RBIs, and a 167 wRC+.
In other words, Dominguez has proven he’s ready to join the MLB roster, and the Yankees may have a spot for him this season as he continues to ramp up.

Potential Lineup Changes
If Alex Verdugo continues to struggle, with his metrics starting to bottom out at hitting .229 with a .286 OBP over 98 games this season, Dominguez could be promoted and given an opportunity to play in left field more frequently. Of course, that may not sit well with Verdugo, but he’s likely on his way out as a free agent anyway, and the Yankees need to win games, not keep their players happy, especially ones that are on a short leash.
At the very least, Dominguez will spend the rest of his year getting more at-bats and ramping up for his inclusion on the MLB roster in 2025, when he’s expected to take over a starting role.
