New York Yankees minor league Prospect Tyrone Yulie may be ranked 48th on Baseball America’s top 50 Yankee prospects list, but he has the potential to be a solid pitcher down the road.
The Yankees are extremely excited about several young players, including Anthony Volpe, Oswald Peraza, Luis Gil, and Jasson Dominguez. Yulie goes under the radar but stands at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, being just 20 years old.
Yulie recorded an 8.89 ERA this past season over a small sample size of just nine games and 28.1 innings pitched. However, he recorded 37 strikeouts during that time frame, showcasing a high 90s fastball and tantalizing slider.
Yulie spent time between the Tampa Tarpon and FCL Yankees this past season, posting a 0.00 ERA over 10.1 innings and 13 strikeouts with FCL.
Ultimately, the young starter simply doesn’t have enough experience to garner any significant attention, but that was before he threw a 100 mph fastball in a training session.

Any 20-year-old pitcher that is reaching those numbers instantly gains attention from big-league teams. The Yankees might be viewing him as a longshot, but that type of arm strength and velocity is convincing regarding added investment and development.
