This off-season has been many things for the New York Yankees, and bodybuilding seems to be one of them for players like Aroldis Chapman. If you reminded Chapman that Jose Altuve jacked a walk-off home run to knock the Yankees out of the 2019 postseason, you might want to second-guess that decision.

Pictures have surfaced over the last few months of Chapman’s physique, and his ripped body indicates he is in prime shape to dominate in 2020. He has been practicing boxing and seemingly bodybuilding, which seems to be an intimidating pair for a closer at the major-league level.

Chapman is known for his flame-throwing abilities, and the size of his arms might attest to that fact. He could be setting record numbers with his fastball this season, and just by looking at him, it is hard to believe he’s actually a pitcher.

The New York Yankees will be expecting big things out of Chapman this year:

Considering a normal MLB season is 162 games, Chapman will have his best stuff in a revised season that will encompass just 60 games in total, not including the playoffs. The Yankees have tried to mitigate fatigue in the past with Chapman, but he will be a full go for 2020. At 6-foot-4 and 212 pounds, Aroldis has been an All-Star the past two seasons and has filled in for Mariano Rivera admirably.

Since Chappy joined the Yankees, he is totaled a 2.51 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 111 saves, and 291 strikeouts in 198 appearances. He is developing himself into a legend in pinstripes, and his physique will certainly make him stand out moving forward.
