Tonight the New York Yankees will start a 3-game series with the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The Yankees will hope for a win to continue their run of winning their fourth series in a row. The Yankees since July 6th are the winningest team in all of baseball. The Yankees are 61-50 and are in third place in the AL East. The Kansas City Royals 48-62, in fourth place in the AL Central. The Yankees have won eight of their last ten games.

Tonight Carlos Hernandez will take the mound for the Kansas City Royals. Hernandez is a righty that is 3-1 on the season with an ERA of 4.58 with 48 strikeouts. He has pitched in 16 games, 4 of them as a starter. The Royal has won his last three starts. He is coming off a 9-1 win of the Chicago White Sox when he went 5 innings with one home run spoiling his outing.

Hernandez will face the Yankee’s, Jameson Taillon. Taillon is a righty that has a 7-4 record with an ERA of 4.04 with 108 strikeouts. The Yankees have won six of his last seven starts. He is coming off a win over the Miami Marlins, where he did not give up a run. Taillon was named the July pitcher of the month.

Tuesday night’s game will pit lefty against lefty as Daniel Lynch takes the mound for the Royals. Lynch is 2-3 with an elevated 6.00 ERA and 20 strikeouts in six games, 3 of them as the starter. He is coming off a win against the White Sox when he got the win going 5 innings, giving up one run. No Yankee has ever seen Lynch pitch, except on video.

Lynch will face the Yankee lefty Nestor Cortes Jr. Cortes is 0-0 with an ERA of 2.14 and 41 strikeouts. Cortes has been the main starter replacing both Corey Kluber and Gerrit Cole, and although he has no record, he has done a great job for the Yankees. The Yankees have won four of his last five games and all of his starts. He is coming off a game against the Mariners where he gave up 2 runs in five innings of work. Cortes will have to be careful with Alberto Hanser, who has 2 hits off him in 3 at-bats.

Wednesday, August 11th, 2:10 pm EDT:

Brady Singer will start Wednesday’s matinee against the Yankees. He is a righty that is 3-7 with an ERA of 5.13 with 92 strikeouts. Singer will start his 19th game of the season after not pitching since July 17th due to right shoulder fatigue. He will have to be extra careful of Joey Gallo, who has three hits off him in four at-bats with one home run.

The New York Yankees have not announced a starter for the Wednesday game and likely won’t until the day of the game. It will be according to who is available and not on the Covid list.

All games will be televised on the YES Network and Bally Sports KC. Tuesday and Wednesday will also be on MLBN out of market.
