Tonight will be the finale of a three-game set between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays in Buffalo, NY. The Yankees have lost the series already by losing the first two games. The Yankees will send out their number one pitching prospect to try to salvage the finale.  The Yankees have lost fifteen of their last twenty games in a dramatic slide from first place in the East to third, behind the Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays.

The game at the Jay’s temporary home at Sahlen  Field in Buffalo, will be played under sunny and clear skies, with a game-time temperature in the ’70s. The game will be televised at 6:37 pm, on the YES Network, in Canada on SENT, and nationally on the MLB Network (out of market only).

The Toronto Blue Jays tonight will try to complete the sweep of the poor playing Yankees. To do that they are betting on Tanner Roark. Roark is a right-hander that is 2-1 with a 5.74 ERA with 28 strikeouts over 311/3 innings.  The Yankees will be at a big disadvantage tonight without Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup, both are on the IL.  Without the two in the lineup, they won’t be able to take advantage of Roark’s soft spot. He gives up the home run.  He has given up five in his last 14 innings. In this seven starts this year he has never gone beyond the fifth inning. The Blue Jays have won six out of seven of his starts.

The New York Yankees will hope that Deivi Garcia can turn things around tonight, with a win, allowing them to go back to Yankee Stadium with some momentum behind them.  This will be Deivi  Garcia’s third start since he made his major league debut on August 30th.  In his debut he pitched brilliantly going 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, and no runs while striking out six against the New York Mets. In his second game faltered a bit going only 4.2 innings of one-run ball, but still struck out 6. Garcia in his two games is 0-1 with a very respectable 3.38 ERA.

Yesterday General Manager Brian Cashman met with the club in the clubhouse.  He expressed the urgency in hitting and winning games with just 19 games remaining in the season.  Even with the pep talk, the Yankees only scrounged up 1 run in the Yankee loss to the Rays. The Yankees are hoping that Garcia gets some run support tonight so he can get his first major league win, and the Yankees fortunes turn positive, as the season is quickly slipping away.
