Imagine the New York Yankees received any positive injury news, wouldn’t let be something special. Well, it’s our lucky day, because third baseman Miguel Andujar has progressed well through his rehab program.

Andujar featured in an extended spring training game, going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk. He played in five innings before calling it a day. This indicates he is close to a potential return to the starting team where Gio Urshela has impressed defensively the past few games.

The Yankees will likely send Andujar to the minors first before pulling him up to the starting team, who could use his offensive production.

A minor tear in his right labrum forced the youth star out on April 1, being placed on the 10-day injured list. His rehab has gone well after rumors of a potential surgery that could end his season bubbled to the surface. Luckily, he will most likely avoid a season-ending surgery and will climb his way back to form in the next few weeks.

How will the New York Yankees go about utilizing Andujar when he returns?

I could see the Bombers featuring Andujar as the designated hitter while Gio Urshela remains at third base for his defensive abilities. This would make the most sense as to not overwork Andujar as he works his way back to every-day conditioning.
