Well, the wait is over, the New York Yankees have officially passed on superstar free agent Manny Machado.

With rumors that Machado could come to New York on a short-term deal centered around a potential playoff run arising, it wasn’t out of the picture that he could sign.

The former Dodger and Oriole will take his talents to the Padres on a 10-year, $300 million deal.

The Yankees will seemingly stick with youth product Miguel Andujar at third base for the foreseeable future and the shortstop position will rotate between Troy Tulowitzki and Gleyber Torres until Didi Gregorius’ return.

Comments on Machado deal:

“[He is] a generational talent,” Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer stated Monday “… I think it just shows where this organization is at. Where we’re at, at the process right now. We’re trying to win baseball games. … It’s exciting, it’s motivating.”
