New York Yankees power hitting first-baseman Luke Voit will be beginning rehab next week. He hurt his sports hernia in an at-bat on July 30th in a loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

There was a possibility that Voit would need surgery to repair the hernia, but he will likely avoid it.

When the Yankees head out west after the weekend, Voit will go to Scranton to train for a few days before being placed on the Railriders active roster for rehab. He should be able to return to the Yankees within two weeks.

Before the injury, Voit was batting .278 with 19 home runs and 54 RBIs. His power at the top of the lineup was crucial for the Yankees, and they are greatly missing his bat despite the team playing well.

Hopefully, we will see Luke Voit in pinstripes soon and back to normal.
