The New York Yankees stole the show of the offseason when they landed Gerrit Cole for $324 million dollars and instilled fear in the rest of Major League Baseball. Ever since then, movement for the Yankees has been dead and fans are wondering if the roster is ready for 2020? Or are the Yankees still analyzing potential trades/signings?
When taking a look at the pitching rotation, I believe that J.A. Happ will be on the move this offseason. I believe that both parties have identified that there wasn’t a fit in New York and he’ll be pitching in different colors next season. This makes sense for the Yankees also because that’ll free up some money after signing Cole.
In regards to the bullpen, I think it’s pretty much set in stone except for maybe a Josh Hader trade. After losing Dellin Betances to the New York Mets, I could see the Yankees going after a high-leverage reliever like Hader. He also has four years of control which is so valuable. Even if the Yankees don’t pick up another bullpen arm, they are already so talented that I know they’ll still find success.
The lineup is set for 2020 I believe. There’s been talk about a trade for Lindor but I think the Yankees have already identified Torres as the shortstop of the future and this is the year that they begin the new era. From top to bottom, even looking at options off the bench, the New York Yankee lineup is terror to any opposing team.
