New York Yankees: How the players reacted to the Cole signing

New York Yankees, Gerrit Cole

12:00 am struck on Tuesday, and the news of Gerrit Cole signing to the New York Yankees broke. Major League baseball went crazy as the already highly talented New York Yankees just got even better. The nine-year, $324 million dollar deal is record-setting and shocked the league.

Even though everyone knew the Yankees were most likely going to be the ones to land him, it was still a bit of a surprise that he picked a team this early. Even the Yankee players showed how fired up they were.

Aaron Judge was one of the first players to tweet out something and it was actually as soon as the news broke. He knows how huge this is for the Yankees and they can finally start to build on the Judge era.

Mike “Sock man” Tauchman was being sly with this one. Grade-A content out of Tauchman.

Luis Severino must be the most pumped up one on the whole team because now a huge weight is lifted off his shoulders. The stress of being an ace and leading his team is off him now and he and Cole can now work together in a 1a, 1b situation.

Possibly the best tweet of the night from a Yankee player, Luke Voit is already saying that Cole can take his number 45 when he joins the team. This also shows how accepting the team is of Cole being added to the roster and that the Yankees set a record on him. People are saying that Voit should rock number 28 because the Yankees are in pursuit of championship 28, just like Girardi did back in the day.
