The New York Yankees have a problem heading into the new season, but it’s a good one. They have so much talent on the roster that they don’t know who’s going to play where since there are several players battling for the starting role.

One of those players is Miguel Andujar, who was great during his rookie season in 2018 and took the Yankee world by storm. He missed pretty much all of last season due to a year-ending surgery but is back and healthy for 2020. However, during the time that Andujar was rehabbing, Gio Urshela was given the chance at third base and was everything the Yankees needed and more.

Entering the new year, Brian Cashman has said that third base is Urshela’s position to lose, and Miguel Andujar will have to try and play different positions or just be a DH. Manager Aaron Boone and Cashman had mentioned that Andujar will try out left-field during Spring Training to get a feel for the position.

Bryan Hoch tweeted out yesterday a video of Andujar down in Tampa getting some reps in left field:

For those who are concerned about Andujar playing left field since his defensive performance at third base wasn’t that great, don’t worry. Miguel Andujar will not be playing a lot of left field in 2020 for New York Yankees. This is possibly just to get him familiar with other positions and/or so other teams see him as a multiple position player, which makes his trade value goes up.

Regardless of the decision that is made with Andujar this season, I think he’s the best fit as the backup third basemen and a primary DH. People forget how good of a bat he has that him being in the lineup consistently as a DH is important.
