The New York Yankees are a world-class organization through and through, and they proved once again that they’re worthy of such praise. In fact, in these troubling times, the entire MLB stepped up and donated towards a common cause.

Each team will donate $1 million dollars toward stadium workers while operations shut down for the foreseeable future, ESPN Jeff Passan reported.

“Motivated by desire to help some of the most valuable members of the baseball community, each club has committed $1 million,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. “The individual clubs will be announcing more details surrounding this support effort in their local communities. The timing of these announcements will vary because of the need to coordinate with state and local laws as well as collective-bargaining obligations in an effort to maximize the benefits realized by each group of employees. I am proud that our clubs came together so quickly and uniformly to support these individuals who provide so much to the game we love.”

Major League Baseball contributes toward the lives of many, helping them pay rent and maintain their lifestyles. However, the Corona Virus has put a roadblock down in front of many stadium workers, and this heartfelt move will go a long way in ensuring they remain healthy and with a roof over their heads.

Distributing the money has yet to be determined:

“The timing of these announcements will vary because of the need to coordinate with state and local laws as well as collective bargaining obligations in an effort to maximize the benefits realized by each group of employees,” Manfred said. “I am proud that our clubs came together so quickly and uniformly to support these individuals who provide so much to the game we love.”

With the regular season being pushed back to an unknown date, some workers could struggle for the next few months and the money from the generous clubs will go a long way in helping their families.
