New York Yankees: Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton unlikely ready for Opening Day

The New York Yankees continue to push back the timetable for return regarding both Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. What first started as a simple “sore” shoulder has turned into a pec injury that requires regular tests to determine the severity.

Judge has been in and out of practices, hitting one day indoors and going for treatment the next. At this point, according to Boone, Judge is set to miss the beginning of the regular season, which starts on March 26 against the Baltimore Orioles.

“I guess kind of the pec area, we’re kind of trying to, you know … (figure out) where’s it coming from kind of what’s generating that that uncomfortableness,” Boone said.

As of now, the Yanks have not established a treatment plan for Judge, as his injury continues to bother him. As long as he’s not recovering and the strength and conditioning staff hasn’t spotted the cause of this injury, his return is unlikely. While Aaron was hitting last Friday, he indicated pain behind his pec, attached to his bothersome shoulder.

The New York Yankees need their big bats in the lineup:

If the Yankees are without Judge for the beginning of the season, it will be a significant loss, considering his inability to reach live-action before pre-season even started. For Stanton, this was another drop in the bucket of injury concerns. Some believe he’s not injury prone, but 2019 showed us an entirely different player.

Stanton suffered lat, bicep, and shoulder strains, logging just 52 at-bats on the season. The Yankees need him to return to full health and contribute in a significant way in 2020; otherwise, they will be looking at another campaign down the drain.
