The New York Yankees have all reported to Spring Training and it seems that the injury bug hasn’t left the team from last season. James Paxton is already out for 3-4 months of the year and Aaron Judge was reportedly having some soreness in his right shoulder and hasn’t completed any full workouts with the team yet.

Manager Aaron Boone is being extra cautious with his players this season and shut down Judge for a week from hitting and throwing. After having a good workout yesterday, Boone is optimistic about him rejoining the team soon for full workouts.

“I’m sure the next day or two, we’ll start ramping him up,” Boone said. Boone has also said that this doesn’t seem like anything serious, it seems like usual wear and tear that every baseball player experiences from throwing. This sort of soreness even dates back to when Judge was at Fresno State.

“He had some stuff in there going back to even when he was drafted which, frankly, a lot of people have,” Boone said. “A lot of people will have different things going on there, kind of typical for most baseball players. It wasn’t much change from that.”

Last season Judge missed a good chunk of time due to an injury which is why the New York Yankees are being so cautious with their star right fielder. He appeared in 102 games and slashed .272/.381/.540 with 27 home runs and 55 runs batted in.  Judge is expected to have a solid season if he’s able to stay healthy.
