Based on early reports in training camp, New York Jets second-year wide receiver Elijah Moore looks primed to have a big year in 2022. With Moore, all of the talent is there to do so.

Moore has the athletic ability with his 4.3 speed, quickness, and change of direction. Technically, Moore can run clean routes and has nearly automatic hands catching the football. A unique element Moore offers to the Jets offense is his gadget ability, a skillset Mike LaFleur’s offense can get the most out of. Moore can line up all over the formation pre-snap, be used on motioning, in the running game on jet sweeps and end arounds, as well as in the screen game with his ability to be dynamic after the catch. Across the board, Moore is a big-play threat.

It was quite a pleasant surprise when Moore fell to the Jets early in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft. As a rookie last year, Moore had an encouraging start. Over his final six games of the year, Moore broke out in a big way with 34 catches, 459 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. Moore is poised to build on this great production early in year two.

Early success in camp for the New York Jets:

Throughout the first seven practices of training camp, Moore has thrived for the Jets. By most accounts and buzz, he has been one of the stars most days. He has made plays all over the field. Moore and Zach Wilson have had big downfield connections.

In the red zone, Wilson and Moore have punched the ball in the end zone. Inside the 20-yard line, Moore showed good things a season ago.

His exceptional, strong hands have also been on display, as highlighted by this terrific one-hander. Catching the football is an effortless routine to Moore’s game.

With his early dominance in camp, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic recently stated that Moore has established himself as the Jets’ No. 1 wide receiver. Moore is going to be a core leader of the Jets’ offense throughout the 2022 season. Moore should have a 1,000-yard receiving year for the Jets. He is one of the best assets Zach Wilson has at his disposal as he looks to take a year-two jump as well.

As a 22-year-old second-year player, Moore will be one of if not the best player for the Jets in 2022.
