One of the top unknowns currently throughout the New York Jets roster is their lack of proven depth at offensive tackle. Earlier in the summer, the Jets had experienced veteran Riley Reiff in for a visit. He ended up recently signing with the Chicago Bears.

Currently, at offensive tackle, the Jets can feel great about their two starters in George Fant and Mekhi Becton. Behind them, though, the third swing tackle is a concern.

Rookie fourth-round pick Max Mitchell has potential and a chance to be a future contributor. Early on as a rookie, though, he will need some time to develop.

For the Jets, it is vital to have not only the best possible starting talent around Zach Wilson but depth as well.

Rich Cimini of ESPN just reported that the Jets are hosting free agent Duane Brown and he will be at the Green and White Scrimmage at MetLife Stadium tonight.

Brown has had a very accomplished 15-year NFL career. He does turn 37 years old at the end of this month. Brown has 203 career starts. He has not missed a start over the last two seasons. Each of the last two years, Brown played 98% of the Seattle Seahawks snaps, proving some recent durability for an older player.

Brown has made five Pro Bowls throughout his successful career. He has been a First-Team All-Pro once and Second-Team All-Pro twice. He would fill the void that Morgan Moses left when he signed with the Baltimore Ravens in free agency. Adding Brown to have as much depth as possible for Mike LaFleur, Wilson, and this offense to work with for the entirety of the season is crucial. It will be interesting to see if the Jets and Brown can agree on something.
